There are several simple things you can do to keep your silk stuffs looking clean and new.
Hand washing Silk
Hand washing silk is our top recommended mode of cleaning silk. Almost all silk can be hand washed (and would not shrink if the silk fabric were pre-shrunk before sewing)
- Please wash it in cold water(water temperature not more than 30 degrees.
- Use lukewarm water and mild, non-alkaline soap (such as Ivory Liquid) or baby shampoo
- Do not wring or twist; roll in towel to extract water. Please hang to dry.
- Do not put it under direct sunlight.
Machine Washing Silk
- Hand washing is recommended. If you do wish to machine wash silk, please use Delicate Cycle and mild detergen.
- Use slowest Spin cycle.
- Use lukewarm water and mild, non-alkaline soap (such as Ivory Liquid) or baby shampoo
- In a top-loading machine, we strongly recommend using a mesh bag for extra protection (this step would not be necessary in a front-loading machine)
- Please seperate colors. Do put light color silk with other dark color clothes.
Caring for Silk
Remove wrinkles.
Avoid using an iron to remove wrinkles from silk fibers. Hanging a silk garment overnight should remove most wrinkles. If absolutely necessary, you can consider using an iron on its silk or lowest possible setting to remove persistent wrinkles.
Ironing Silk
1.Before using an iron, try hanging the silk item in the bathroom while you take a hot shower to release lingering wrinkles. Close the door and keep any vents off so the shower produces as much steam as possible.
2.If you do use an iron, don’t wet a wrinkled spot, as this could cause rings or increase the risk of puckering or burning the fabric.
3.Turn the garment inside out before you use the iron. Please always use the cold setting NOT hot setting.
